Won't be back!

Booked a table here a week prior for the first time available, 5pm. Bearing in mind I have a child that needs to do the whole routine for school, we walk in at 4:51pm to be told that it will be at least 15-20 minutes before we get our table. The poor waitress was apologetic, but the manager was not and the girl who told us the bad news at the till couldn’t care less . We used to visit this pub regularly, but this is the second time in a row we’ve had an issue with them.

Poor food - rude manager

We ordered two meals which arrived very quickly but unfortunately the chips were cheap/ tasteless and there was a drizzle of gravy on the mince and onion pie meal (the pie was a small piece for a £12 meal along with cheap supermarket chips). We asked for a little more gravy and to our surprise found they had charged £1.50 for the extra. Upon bringing this to the attention of the lady on the till, the manager rudely interjected and stated that they would charge for it.

Thwaites hotels are awful.

I booked two rooms to treat my Mum to a night away. We had our rooms beside each other & upon entrance of the room I was instantly disappointed. The decor & furnishings are so tired & dated, the walls had marks all over them in various places, the bathroom shower tiles are in serious need of new grouting & the marble sink is discolored & stained, not what I expect to see when paying for a 4 * hotel! The bar service is a joke, waiting half an hour for our drinks to be brought over to us.

Staff top marks from us

Brilliant service nice food attentive staff and very reasonable price I took my 2 teenage kids they had a burger and lasagne and I also had burger.just a great friendly place to eat keep up the good work parking great at the rear.

Good value lunch

Nice cosy pub with a real fire. Friendly service and good value pub grub cooked with pride. I can recommend the chicken breast in white wine sauce. Good atmosphere, home cooked food, lovely warm log fire. Would recommend. Excellent value Pool table and darts available.

Rude Manager typical of Thwaites group.

Stayed with a group of friends for a birthday celebration & long walks with the dogs. Beautiful setting, comfortable but small rooms. Food average, service very poor. Assistant Manager made us feel that everything was too much trouble, that we were an inconvenience instead of paying guests. Requested feedback from us then emailed an appalling & very offensive reply.

Mismanagement at the Aztec Hotel

We booked and paid for a signature family room, but when we opened the door, there were other people in the room. Quite embarrassing experience as obviously the room was double booked. Eventually we were given a standard double bed room and the sofa was turned into an extra bed for our son. There was no compensation.

Awful experience

From 2hour waits for food to rude waiting in staff it became laughable, one evening I saw two people come back into the hotel and sit down and eat a Mac Donald’s and KFC both on different tables in a 4star rated hotel. I Suspect either the staff are terrified of the chef or the staff don’t communicate with the chef. After all is said and done despite the lovely decor I would avoid this place if you are looking for a 4star stay it’s more like faulty towers than a four star hotel and such a shame

Wheelchair users Not Welcome

Tried staying here as a wheelchair user wanting to simply sleep, eat, wash and shower BUT despite booking a wheelchair accessible room this is not possible at at this 4**** hotel. They told me my only option was to use the spa facilities which were some 100m from my room. MOST UNWELCOME AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU ARE A WHEELCHAIR USER !!!
