I will never visit again
I was very disappointed with food I had the turkey off the special board and it was the worst turkey I have ever had the sprouts where undercooked the parsnips where hard and the roast potatoes where hard I got a little pot of gravy which was tasteless the pig in blankets where pink and a little ring of stuffing it all was disgusting and I wasn't the only one who complained about there food around the table one even complained that much they got there money back im not one too complain so didn't

Another good customer Lost
We have been regular customers at this pub over the years & always had good service and meals . . . until yesterday (Tuesday) lunchtime. You expect three things when you enter a restaurant: to be given a table, a menu & offered drinks. So we were given a table in full sight of the lady in charge and were then ignored for ten minutes, at which point we got up and left. As we left, the lady offered the excuse that there was a problem with the gas in the kitchen.

Awful experience
From 2hour waits for food to rude waiting in staff it became laughable, one evening I saw two people come back into the hotel and sit down and eat a Mac Donald’s and KFC both on different tables in a 4star rated hotel. I Suspect either the staff are terrified of the chef or the staff don’t communicate with the chef. After all is said and done despite the lovely decor I would avoid this place if you are looking for a 4star stay it’s more like faulty towers than a four star hotel and such a shame

Not a good experience
We ordered two meals. Scampi and chips and Hunters chicken with chips. After 20 minutes we were told they had no Scampi and was offered Fish goujons but in batter not breadcrumbs. Why tell us after 20 minutes ? And not after we had ordered. Surely the chef should know what he has in . Another 25 minutes of waiting, the food arrived . Only to have some Scampi on it and some fish goujons. Over cooked. Fries not chips. The Hunters chicken had way too much cheese on top.

Good value for money
Went for impromptu lunch. Excellent service. Food was lovely and very good value for money. I chose the scampi and changed the sides due to my foodie intolerances and this was accommodated without fuss. Staff very friendly.

Very disappointed, bad slow service
We had booked a table for a party of 10 to round off a weekend away celebrating friends 40th birthdays. Having walked for an hour to get to the pub we were very thirsty and ordered drinks which we had to wait 15 minutes for. We then ordered food with a couple of nibble plates to keep us going. An hour and a half after arriving we still didn't have our main courses. The pub did not appear that busy.

Food hygiene is a joke.
There were other, potentially serious, problems. Firstly the stale milk, both in my room and at breakfast. This was totally unacceptable, as everyone knows about food hygiene standards nowadays. If that wasn’t enough, the room was on the cramped side, my egg’s benedict has no butter and the waitresses forgot my orange juice. Oh and I had to ask for the complimentary coffee to be placed in my room(with food). How can you charge £180/night for a room and not even provide the free drinks?
