Food hygiene is a joke.

There were other, potentially serious, problems. Firstly the stale milk, both in my room and at breakfast. This was totally unacceptable, as everyone knows about food hygiene standards nowadays. If that wasn’t enough, the room was on the cramped side, my egg’s benedict has no butter and the waitresses forgot my orange juice. Oh and I had to ask for the complimentary coffee to be placed in my room(with food). How can you charge £180/night for a room and not even provide the free drinks?

Very, very disappointing meal

Just returned from what potentially could have been a lovely meal. Unset table, warm water, and under cooked over priced risotto. When mentioned waitress replied as if trying to educate us that it was 'al dente'....... this doesn't translate as crunchy. Other food items did not match description. Won't be returning, and this probably explains why only 3 tables were taken all evening.

Well below par.

Disappointing. My favourite place to go in Blackburn and today was not very nicè the chicken Kiev was dry and the garlic tasted bitter there was th salt already on the chips then the gammon was placed on the chips witch is char grilled so the gammon went really salty and the chips went black . Plus was quite cold. by the time I got table checked it was too late and seemed pointless complaining .

Great value

Under new management and thought me an the missus would try out the new menu. The beer in here is always top notch and the food was great really good value for money. Had 2 courses a few drink bill was about £40 well worth it and just what we needed. Will definitely be back. Thanks very much guys

Not good

Novelty of the new landlord/landlady has worn off walked in on a Saturday night whilst they had an act on and sadly only a handful of people at the bar, looks like they have obviously upset a few people as the last night we went in you couldn't move, it would be such a shame o see a decent pub go under... thwaites need to seriously have a look at who they are employing to run their pubs

Don't bother going here.

Went on sunday and arrived at about 12:15. decided to have the sunday lunch which was advertised as roast beef or another roast meat, we were told that only beef was available and when it arrived it looked and tasted like very cheap meat, the mashed potatoes served with it were cold. the pudding was ok but the custrd served with this was also cold. will not be going again

Awful, depressing place - Avoid

Before I even arrived I had a bad experience with Victoria in reservations who was rude and unhelpful. My room (and the whole hotel) was tired and shabby. The spa was not clean and there were several drunks in the sauna etc. (one of whom said she worked there !). They were serving alcohol in glasses around the pool area. Breakfast was a disaster-with the fruit salad arriving after the cooked breakfasts...I could go on. ..suffice to say this is an awful place on the edge of an industrial estate.

I will never visit again

I was very disappointed with food I had the turkey off the special board and it was the worst turkey I have ever had the sprouts where undercooked the parsnips where hard and the roast potatoes where hard I got a little pot of gravy which was tasteless the pig in blankets where pink and a little ring of stuffing it all was disgusting and I wasn't the only one who complained about there food around the table one even complained that much they got there money back im not one too complain so didn't

Well situated but otherwise poor.

Room service poor- some food undercooked. Requested a ground floor room and had this confirmed by the hotel. Arrived to be given a room on floor 3 with no option to move. Room and communal areas very dated. Various stains in room. Communication with the spa very poor. Not enough staff at breakfast causing delays and inaccuracies in orders for group. For the cost of the room I would expect a better standard. Noise from other rooms was distracting.

Quite uncomfortable due to the freezing cold room

The room was freezing cold. We couldn't get the temperature above 15oC and the air conditioning blew cold air all night. The shower room was freezing , even with the heated towel rail on. The breakfast wasn't very hot. The receptionist took a note of the problems we had encountered but didn't really offer any apology.

Went for a meal very disappointed

Went for a meal very disappointed crinkle chips small potions but expensive for what we had would not recommend felt rushed and not relaxing atmosphere .

Typical Thwaites overpriced & unedifying

We stayed at this hotel as we were attending a wedding reception. i think the hotel is overated as it needs updating. The room was tiny and very old fashioned. The drinks were expensive and the snack we had in the bar before the wedding was overpriced a burger and chips was £22.50 i would have expected steak for that price. I would not recommend this hotel,We also didnt have breakfast as it was £27.00 each

Remortgaged my house for a G&T...

I came on a pub crawl night out with friends and I ordered a gin and tonic at the bar. I was asked for £8.30 and when I questioned why it was so expensive (it was a single!)- I was told because it was a Tanqueray?! I showed them the gin menu where it said £6.50 and the barmaid wasn't having any of it. I reluctantly paid and left. £8.30 for a G&T? Won't be back anytime soon...
