Very disappointing to say the least
I was looking forward to returning for a Sunday lunch of the highest quality but what I was served fell considerably short. For starters the wife and I shared mussels. I often order mussels as I'm very partial to one from time to time. These were the worst I've ever had the misfortune to eat. Must of been frozen v strange taste. Really really poor. For main I had the lamb rump. At £26 this was quite possibly the most overpriced meal over ever eaten. 3 small tiny fatty pieces of lamb.

Good value lunch
Nice cosy pub with a real fire. Friendly service and good value pub grub cooked with pride. I can recommend the chicken breast in white wine sauce. Good atmosphere, home cooked food, lovely warm log fire. Would recommend. Excellent value Pool table and darts available.

Wheelchair users Not Welcome
Tried staying here as a wheelchair user wanting to simply sleep, eat, wash and shower BUT despite booking a wheelchair accessible room this is not possible at at this 4**** hotel. They told me my only option was to use the spa facilities which were some 100m from my room. MOST UNWELCOME AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU ARE A WHEELCHAIR USER !!!

Awful night's sleep at the Cottons Hotel.
The noise in bedroom 300 from the heating or plumbing sounded like a jet taking of at times. woke me in the night several times.

Yuk
Went with my husband for cheese pie special,sat looking around and it was dirty. Dead flies on the windows ledge and carpet needed a vac. Ask for condiments and brown sauce and ketchup came squirted on a plate and looked lumpy.tasted it and was disgusting. The cheese pie was made with blue cheese( not written on the menu) so I didn't like that. Pleasant service but overall experience was like a greasy jeans!

I paid for 3 empty rooms out of 4 at the Cottons hotel
Unable to reclaim this expense at work, so I personally lost +£420. I was hoping for some professional interaction and understanding from the hotel but the first time I got silence and on the subsequent occasion, received a direct no at reception. Pretty sure a hotel such as Cottons could have survived without this additional revenue. Will not book any of my clients into Cottons hotel again and warn my colleagues to avoid this hotel.

Unnacceptable
Our stay at the Cottons on 11th and 12th February(which was essential travel for my father's funeral) the heating didn't work, eventually found someone, who came and reset the thermostat, but went off again soon after, the second night was the same it was -1/2 outside, someone brought us a electric heater at about 10.30 pm . The shower didn't get hot. Had to ask for coffee, teaspoons etc . Frayed carpets. Very unpleasant stay in very personal circumstances. Room 148

Well situated but otherwise poor.
Room service poor- some food undercooked. Requested a ground floor room and had this confirmed by the hotel. Arrived to be given a room on floor 3 with no option to move. Room and communal areas very dated. Various stains in room. Communication with the spa very poor. Not enough staff at breakfast causing delays and inaccuracies in orders for group. For the cost of the room I would expect a better standard. Noise from other rooms was distracting.

Well below par.
Disappointing. My favourite place to go in Blackburn and today was not very nicè the chicken Kiev was dry and the garlic tasted bitter there was th salt already on the chips then the gammon was placed on the chips witch is char grilled so the gammon went really salty and the chips went black . Plus was quite cold. by the time I got table checked it was too late and seemed pointless complaining .

Rude Manager typical of Thwaites group.
Stayed with a group of friends for a birthday celebration & long walks with the dogs. Beautiful setting, comfortable but small rooms. Food average, service very poor. Assistant Manager made us feel that everything was too much trouble, that we were an inconvenience instead of paying guests. Requested feedback from us then emailed an appalling & very offensive reply.
